November 18-26, 2006 marked the debut of The Naples Challenger - a $50,000 men’s professional tennis tournament. The event, held at the world-renown Naples Bath & Tennis Club in Naples, Florida, attracted ATP pros, ranked between 80th and 250th in the world!

November 18-19, 2006 marked the
7th Annual Swingtime Tournament held at The Players Club & Spa at Lely Resort and Olde Cypress in Naples, Florida. Tennis legend, Jim Courier, stopped by after the Pro-Celebrity / Pro-Am Tennis & Golf tournament. Proceeds from Swingtime go to benefit the Tim & Tom Gullikson Foundation, whose mission is to assist brain-tumor patients and their families in managing the physical, emotional and social challenges presented by the illness.

Bill Beverly, on behalf of the Naples Tennis Club, accepted the
2006 Al Mills Memorial Adult Tournament of the Year Award.
Beverly is currently Vice President of member and tournament tennis. The Naples Tennis Club was honored to receive this prestigious award for their Category II Super Senior Tournament. The event attracted a record 510 participants from all over the world and included household names such as: Turville, Bachmann, Hernando, Thompson, Kovaleski, Drilling, Main (Canadian), Van Nostrand, Seymour, Wethers, Heisler and Converse.
Success in promoting, coordinating and completing this large and successful event is credited to the numerous people who donated their time and hard work. From coordinating check-in and tournament desks, to monitoring play, the tournament staff and volunteers are superb at what they do. A special show of appreciation is extended to Art Russo, who runs the Super Seniors series of tournaments, and Dick DeVoe, for raising the prize money for the series.
The 2007 Super Senior Series will once again be held at the legendary
Naples Bath & Tennis Club this January. NBTC offers 38 championship tennis courts, fine dining, a beautiful clubhouse and a full-range of amenities.
